2022 AP Portfolio
2021-2022
Created for the AP College Board for the AP Studio Art
Course taken during my senior year of high school.
"How did I get to where I am today? What did my parents? my grandparents have to go through, experience, and overcome to lay the foundation for a strong, educated, successful new generation? I am driven by my interest in exploring the interconnection between the lives of two people that were incredibly different and yet they ultimately met, became one, and created dozens. My sustained investigation explores the memories, cultures, and artifacts found within my Italian grandparents love story and the moments that were key parts of the transition of generations."
"I use continuous lines as a point of departure to explore connections. I start my work with photos from the past, which I digitally modify, collage, or reimagine. I then work in my sketchbook experimenting with color pallets and mediums thinking about how to elevate the narrative. I explore the quality of line emphasis using calligraphic nibs and brushes and experiment with the opacity of ink to consider value within the lines. Although I have a vision of what each piece may look like, as I make the artwork, I reexamine the piece considering unexpected potential solutions."
